The local chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) in Rivers State has praised Governor Siminalayi Fubara for promptly approving the promotion of council employees with full financial benefits.
Clifford Paul, the NULGE President in the state, conveyed the commendation in a statement released yesterday in Port Harcourt.
During a meeting with NULGE leadership and principal officers of the Local Government Councils at the Government House, Port Harcourt, Governor Fubara announced the approval, as outlined by Paul.
Furthermore, Governor Fubara sanctioned the immediate implementation of the ₦30,000 minimum wage for local government workers, along with the ₦35,000 wage award authorized by the Federal Government to mitigate the effects of the fuel subsidy removal, Paul added.
Expressing gratitude, Paul stated, “We commend the governor for including NULGE in the Local Government Pensions Board, as mandated by law.”
He continued, “We also appreciate him for instituting a consolidated salary structure for Local Government workers retiring at grade level 17.”
Paul affirmed the loyalty, cooperation, solidarity, and support of the local government workers to the Fubara-led government.
