President Bola Tinubu has announced the reappointment of Prof. Moji Adeyeye as the Director General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC). The announcement comes amidst ongoing protests against the recent restrictions on the manufacture and sale of alcoholic beverages in sachets, a move that has sparked controversy among labor unions and distillers. In response to these concerns, protesting groups have called for Adeyeye’s suspension of the prohibition.
In addition to Adeyeye’s reappointment, President Tinubu has appointed Dr. Mansur Kabir as the new Chairman of the NAFDAC Board. This appointment reflects a broader reshuffle within the health and social welfare sector, with Dr. Olajide Idris succeeding Prof. Ifedayo Adetifa as the new Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.
