Sahad Abuja Store Reopens After FCCPC Intervenes on Pricing Concerns

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has intervened to reopen Sahad Stores, a popular Abuja supermarket, following temporary closure due to pricing discrepancies.

Initially sealed on Friday, February 16, the store faced criticism for deceptive pricing tactics, where prices displayed on shelves did not match those charged at checkout.

Adamu Abdullahi, the acting Executive Vice Chairman of FCCPC, confirmed the reopening, emphasizing the commission’s commitment to transparent pricing practices.

FCCPC’s intervention follows investigations into reports of misleading pricing practices, which revealed discrepancies between displayed and charged prices, violating consumer protection laws.

Despite initial summonses to address the issue, Sahad Stores’ staff failed to appear, prompting further concerns about compliance with consumer protection regulations.

The FCCPC underscores the importance of transparent pricing to empower consumers and vows to combat exploitative practices in the market.
