Mrs Adachukwu Okafor, a lawyer, has been arrested by the Nigeria Police for allegedly abusing her 10-year-old house help. Ohaeri Joseph, the Special Assistant on Media to the Minister of Women Affairs, confirmed the arrest, stating that Mrs Okafor had been on the run since the news of her alleged crime broke on the internet.
As reported earlier by The Spectacles, the minister had offered a ₦2 million reward for any information leading to the arrest of Mrs Okafor, who disappeared after a video of her misdeeds went viral. Weapons used to brutalise the child included a broken bottle, a knife, and an electric pressing iron.
Ohaeri stated that the ministry would collaborate with the police to launch an immediate investigation into the matter. He assured the public that the abused girl, who is currently undergoing medical treatment, would receive justice.
