A violent clash ensued in Rivers State as supporters of Nelson Wike, led by Etche LGA Chairman Dr. Obinna Anyanwu and his Chief of Staff Mr. Nwanko Ikechi, attacked a pro-Fubara support group during a Thanksgiving service in Etche LGA.
The incident occurred as the pro-Fubara group gathered to celebrate Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s victory at the Supreme Court. The attack, which resulted in the destruction of equipment and property, has sparked condemnation online, with accusations that the Pro-Wike group is fueling political turmoil in the state.
According to Mr. Monday, who was present at the venue and was assaulted during the altercation, Chairman Dr. Obinna Anyanwu allegedly sponsored thugs to invade the event and wreak havoc. The assailants reportedly destroyed sound systems, a generating set, canopies, chairs, decorations, and other equipment meant for the Thanksgiving party.
