In a decisive move, President Bola Tinubu has instructed the prompt settlement of ₦342 million owed to the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) by the State House.
The directive comes after a thorough review of accounts between the State House Management and AEDC.
Disputing AEDC’s initial claim of ₦923 million debt, the Presidency clarified that the actual outstanding bill amounts to ₦342.35 million, as revealed in a statement signed by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Tuesday.
Titled ‘President Tinubu’s directive on State House electricity bill payment,’ the statement underscores the commitment to clearing the debt promptly.
Assuring the AEDC of timely payment, President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, pledged that the debt will be settled before the week concludes.
Additionally, defaulting Ministries, Departments, and Agencies are urged to settle their electricity bills expeditiously.
