The Zamfara State Police Command has refuted claims of the abduction of 26 passengers on the Gusau-Sokoto Road.
According to reports, a group of bandits blocked the road and attempted to kidnap motorists. However, the police were quick to respond and drive away the bandits, restoring normalcy to the area.
Police spokesperson Yazid Abubakar clarified that while the bandits did block the road, no passengers were abducted. He emphasized that the police successfully dispersed the bandits, preventing any kidnappings from occurring.
Abubakar urged the public to disregard misinformation and assured that measures were in place to prevent similar incidents in the future.
In a separate incident, bandits in Zamfara State killed nine people and abducted 27 others in Makera village of Talata-Mafara LG. The bandits reportedly invaded the village, shooting indiscriminately and abducting residents.
