ASUU Awards Scholarship To Exceptional Students

In a bid to recognize and reward academic excellence, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) has granted scholarships to deserving students with exceptional academic achievements.

During the recent award ceremony, ASUU FUTA Chairman, Prof. Pius Mogaji, highlighted the significance of November 12th as a day dedicated to honoring advocates for educational progress in Nigeria. In alignment with this commemoration, scholarships were bestowed upon outstanding students nationwide.

Prof. Mogaji emphasized that the selection process involved candidate applications, resulting in the selection of two FUTA students. However, ASUU FUTA opted to expand the initiative to benefit six students from the institution.

The initiative, deemed a part of the union’s Corporate Social Responsibility, aligns with ASUU’s core mission of teaching, research, and community engagement. Prof. Mogaji underscored the union’s stance on advocating for grants, rather than loans, to facilitate students’ academic pursuits.

Furthermore, he reaffirmed ASUU’s dedication to advancing educational progress within Nigeria.

Expressing gratitude on behalf of the recipients, Ms. Victoria Akinpelu extended appreciation to the union for their generosity, assuring responsible utilization of the scholarship funds towards their educational endeavors.
