BREAKING: Edo CSOs Rally in Benin City, Protest Economic Hardship

Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in Edo State have taken to the streets of Benin City, protesting against the prevailing economic challenges.

The demonstrators, carrying placards with messages such as “End Economic Hardship” and “Address Hunger Now,” are voicing their discontent amidst the ongoing economic difficulties facing Nigerians.

This protest in Benin City follows similar demonstrations in Ibadan, where residents expressed their grievances over economic hardships.

Meanwhile, the “Take It Back Movement,” a human rights group, has launched protests in Lagos State, decrying the escalating costs of food and living expenses.

These protests coincide with a warning issued by Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Adegoke Fayoade, prompting concerns over public safety.

Additionally, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has announced plans for nationwide protests starting tomorrow. The decision comes after the government’s alleged failure to honor agreements made on October 2, 2023, following the removal of fuel subsidies.

The NLC’s protest follows a 14-day ultimatum demanding government action to alleviate widespread hardship.
