BREAKING: NABTEB Releases Exam Results With Notable Changes

The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has announced the release of results for the Ordinary and Advanced Levels Craft Certificate Examinations conducted for private candidates from November 6 to December 9, 2023.

The results encompassed the National Business Certificate (NBC)/National Technical Certificate (NTC) and the Advanced National Business Certificate (ANBC)/Advanced National Technical Certificate (ANTC).

Out of the 39,478 candidates who took part in the NBC/NTC examinations, 28,137 secured five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics, representing 71.27 percent.

Additionally, 37,476 candidates attained five credits and above, regardless of whether English Language and Mathematics were included, accounting for 94.93 percent.

Compared to the 2022 November/December results, where 21,103 candidates obtained five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics (representing 75.96 percent), and 26,561 candidates secured five credits and above, with or without English Language and Mathematics (representing 95.61 percent), the recent performances showed a slight decline.

NABTEB’s Registrar/Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Ifeoma Isiugo-Abanihe, made this disclosure at the board’s national headquarters in Ikpoba Hill, Benin, Edo State.

Isiugo-Abanihe also unveiled the implementation of an electronic process for issuing certificates to candidates online, streamlining the process and providing access to electronic certificates for previous examinations.

She highlighted that a total of 43,594 candidates (26,004 males and 17,590 females) registered for the examinations across 1,746 centers, with 43,502 candidates ultimately sitting for the exams, representing 99.79 percent of total enrolment.

Regarding certification, 41.17 percent of candidates at the Craft level and 54.82 percent at the Master Crafts level were certified, showcasing variances compared to the 2022 performances.

Isiugo-Abanihe emphasized the ongoing efforts to enhance quality assurance mechanisms and combat examination malpractice, noting a slight increase in malpractice incidents compared to the previous year.

She underscored the importance of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Nigeria, advocating for increased emphasis and addressing challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, technical manpower, and funding.

Registration for the 2024 in-school examinations is underway, with Isiugo-Abanihe urging stakeholders to leverage the opportunities provided by NABTEB qualifications for career and academic advancement.
