The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially released the outcome of the 2023 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) external.
During a press briefing held in Minna, Professor Dantani Wushishi, NECO’s Registrar/Chief Executive, shared crucial insights into the examination’s results and measures taken against malpractice.
NECO revealed the blacklisting of two supervisors in Oyo and Lagos states, along with one examination center in Borno state, due to their involvement in examination malpractices. Professor Wushishi emphasized that these actions were necessary to maintain the integrity of the examination process.
Highlighting the malpractice cases, Wushishi mentioned that 8,518 candidates were implicated, including two centers in Kaduna and Ogun states involved in severe malpractice incidents.
Regarding the examination results, out of the 74,950 candidates registered, 74,342 participated. Among those who sat for English Language, 55,272 achieved Credit and above, while for Mathematics, 67,815 attained Credit and above.
Furthermore, 50,066 candidates secured five Credits and above, including English and Mathematics, representing 67.35 percent of the total candidates. Additionally, 63,539 candidates obtained five Credits and above, irrespective of English Language and Mathematics, accounting for 84.11 percent.
In addition to announcing the results, the Registrar introduced an automated annual posting calendar aimed at addressing challenges related to staff postings for out-of-station assignments. This initiative seeks to promote fairness and eliminate biases in staff deployment.
