NYSC Restricts Corps Members from Sharing Camp Activities on Social Media

Brigadier General Yusha’u Ahmed, the Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has cautioned corps members against sharing camp activities on social media platforms.

Ahmed emphasized that moments captured during the three-week exercise should be kept for personal viewing only.

Issuing the warning during his address to the 2024 Batch A Stream 1 corps members at the NYSC Ogun State Permanent Orientation Camp in Sagamu, the DG also urged them to refrain from unnecessary journeys, especially unauthorized ones, prioritizing their safety above all else.

Encouraging the corps members to maximize their service year, Ahmed stressed the importance of productivity and advised against idle hours.

He emphasized, “You are not expected to share camp activities on social media; anything recorded should be for personal consumption. Additionally, exercise caution regarding unnecessary and unauthorized travels, prioritizing personal security.”

Ahmed also urged corps members to participate in the NYSC Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme to become self-sufficient.

He mentioned collaborations with financial institutions like the Bank of Industry, Access Bank, Wema Bank, NNPC Foundation, and others, offering interest-free loans and grants to corps members.

During the event, the State Coordinator, Olayinka Nasamu, commended the participants for their good behavior and adaptation to camp life.

The DG donated four cows and cash gifts to various categories of corps members, accompanied by officials from the NYSC headquarters, including the Director of Special Duties, Mrs. Bona Fasakin, and the Director of the Press and Public Relations Unit, Mr. Edwin Megwa.

The NYSC program entails a year-long commitment starting with a three-week orientation course and is mandatory for all Nigerian graduates mobilized for national service.
