Zamfara Community and Social Development Agency Enlists 1,500 Youths and Women for Labour-Intensive Public Workfare

As part of the Third Cycle of the Nigeria COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES), the Zamfara Community and Social Development Agency have enlisted 1,500 youths and women for Labour-Intensive Public Workfare (LIPW).

During a one-day training workshop in Gusau, the agency’s general manager, Umar Nakwada, announced the recruitment, emphasizing that the beneficiaries were chosen from all 14 local government areas of the state to engage in environmental sanitation projects.

Selected based on merit and meeting minimum educational qualifications, the beneficiaries, aged between 18 and 45, will receive a monthly stipend of 15,000 throughout their one-year temporary employment period.

The training aimed to educate beneficiaries on their roles and responsibilities, part of NG-CARES’ initiatives to create employment opportunities and empower youths and women. Nakwada urged dedication and effective service from the beneficiaries, emphasizing the importance of forming clusters and engaging in meaningful community service.

Coordinator Mukhtar Ibrahim encouraged effective utilization of monthly stipends and highlighted topics covered during the training, including the rights and roles of beneficiaries, engagement terms, and the formation of cooperative societies.
