Katsina residents troop to police with information on wanted bandits after promise of N50 million

Katsina residents have heeded the call for action, actively responding to the plea for information on two notorious bandit kingpins, Modi Modi and Jan Kare. This response comes in the wake of the Katsina State Police Command’s offer of a substantial reward of N50 million for valuable information leading to the arrest of these criminals, who have been terrorizing communities within Kankara and Safana Local Government Areas.

Since the announcement, residents have been stepping forward with credible information, demonstrating their commitment to enhancing security efforts in the state. The overwhelming response from the community has been met with appreciation from the Katsina State Police Command, which recognizes the vital role of citizen involvement in combating criminal activities.

ASP Abubakar Aliyu, the police spokesperson, highlighted the command’s efforts in carefully reviewing the received information to identify actionable leads that could facilitate the apprehension of the wanted criminals. He stated, “We have been receiving an avalanche of information from the people on the two bandit kingpins and even criminals generally in the state since our bulletin was out. The command is very appreciative of the people’s response. But, you know, we must sieve through the information to bring out the one that will lead to the arrest of the bandit kingpins.”

Encouraged by the community’s response, the police command encourages residents to continue providing information not only on the two bandit kingpins but also on criminals operating in the state. This collective effort aims to rid the state of criminal elements and ensure the safety and security of all residents.
