National Minimum Wage Review Public Hearings Organized by FG

The Federal Government has launched a comprehensive review of the minimum wage across the country.

In a statement released by the Federal Ministry of Finance, the objective of the public hearings is to gather a wide range of perspectives and recommendations.

Scheduled across six regions, the hearings will take place in Yola for the North-East, Kano for the North-West, Abuja for the North-Central, Uyo for the South-South, Enugu for the South-East, and Lagos for the South-West on March 7, 2024.

The South-West zonal hearing will be held in Lagos at the LTV Blue Roof Arena, presided over by Finance Minister and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun.

A diverse panel, including government representatives like Edun and Osun Governor Adeleke Ademola, employers’ representatives such as Omo-Lamai Grace and Muhammed Nura, and labor representatives like Adeyanju Adewale and Shuaibu Afusatu, alongside Labor and Employment Minister of State Onyejeocha Nkeiruka, will lead the discussions.

These public hearings are pivotal in providing stakeholders with an opportunity to actively engage in shaping the national minimum wage policy.

Their input will be instrumental in ensuring that the new policy strikes a balance between the welfare of workers and the nation’s overall economic prosperity.
