IGP Implements Ban on PoS Machines Within Police Facilities Nationwide

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has enforced a prohibition on the use of point-of-sale (POS) machines and other electronic mobile money transaction devices within police stations and facilities across Nigeria.

According to police spokesperson Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the ban comes in response to public concerns regarding alleged illegal transactions involving POS operators and certain police personnel.

Adejobi emphasized that the ban aims to prevent corrupt practices and maintain discipline within the force, with severe sanctions awaiting those who defy the directive.

Despite previous warnings, some police commands and formations have disregarded the regulation, prompting the IGP to stress the non-negotiable nature of compliance.

The IGP has urged all officers and personnel to strictly adhere to the ban, warning of disciplinary and criminal action for any violations, including connivance in illicit financial transactions.
