Nigeria’s ongoing struggle with unreliable power supply was brought to the forefront on Tuesday as a power outage disrupted the Senate Plenary session.
Following the outage, reports indicate that the Senate has halted plenary until the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) restores electricity supply.
According to the report, the removal of fuel subsidies has exacerbated Nigeria’s power woes, leading to record-high prices for petroleum products like Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and AGO.
Additionally, national grid collapses have become increasingly frequent over the past nine months.
Although the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and Electricity Distribution Companies have recently attempted to address the issue, blaming power generation for the problems persists.
