Chidimma Susan Ezenyili, a 37-year-old Nigerian lawyer turned caregiver in the United Kingdom, tragically passed away after collapsing while on duty on February 22.
Ezenyili, known as Suzy, was caring for an elderly woman in Bishop’s Stortford when the incident occurred. Despite not feeling well herself, she continued to work before collapsing.
Ezenyili, along with her husband and daughter, had moved to the UK in August 2023 on sponsorship visas to provide a better life for their family. She had been caring for her patient, 86-year-old Ian Hale, for the past five months.
Efforts by medical responders and the community were made to save her, but she was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, where she was diagnosed with a severe brain haemorrhage. Two days later, on February 24, life support was discontinued, and she passed away with her husband by her side.
Ezenyili’s goal was to qualify to practice law in the UK and provide her daughter with better educational opportunities.
