Tinubu Urges Swift Distribution of Grains to FCT Residents

In response to the prevailing economic challenges, President Bola Tinubu has instructed the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to expedite the distribution of grains and palliatives among residents.

The directive, communicated through a letter from the Presidency to the FCT Minister via the National Emergency Management Authority, underscores the urgency of providing relief to mitigate hardship.

Speaking during an emergency meeting with stakeholders and area council chairpersons, Minister of State for the FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, revealed the establishment of a committee tasked with implementing the directive within the next fortnight.

The move follows recent incidents, including the looting of a warehouse in the Gwagwa-Tasha area of Abuja, prompting swift action to ensure effective distribution and prevent further unrest.

Mahmoud emphasized the need for transparency in the distribution process, citing Tinubu’s commitment to addressing food security challenges nationwide.

The committee comprises representatives from various sectors, including local government officials, security agencies, community leaders, and civil society organizations, to ensure comprehensive and equitable distribution of the relief items.
