Kano Gov Urges Tinubu to Reopen Borders Amids Food Crisis

Governor Abba Kabir-Yusuf of Kano State has advocated for the reopening of land borders to tackle the food crisis gripping the nation.

During a meeting with the Comptroller-General of Customs, Mr Adewale Adeniyi, Kabir-Yusuf emphasized the importance of this move in alleviating the economic hardships faced by Nigerians, citing its potential to curb inflation and reduce food prices.

He expressed gratitude for President Tinubu’s support for the national food initiative and highlighted Kano’s role in hosting the initiative’s launch.

Kabir-Yusuf also commended the Customs’ efforts in food distribution and called for measures to prevent diversion of the commodities.

Additionally, he pledged ongoing support to the Customs Service, emphasizing the need for collaboration between the Service and the Kano community.

Adeniyi echoed this sentiment, underscoring the Customs’ commitment to addressing food insecurity and hardship across the country.
