BREAKING: Niger Gov Approves ₦20,000 Wage Increase for Workers

Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umar Bago, has given the green light for the payment of a ₦20,000 wage increase to every civil servant in the state.

This decision comes after President Bola Tinubu urged state governments to implement the wage increase to alleviate the economic hardships faced by the populace.

President Tinubu, during his visit to Minna on Monday, March 11, emphasized the importance of states adopting the wage increase to provide much-needed relief without exacerbating inflationary pressures.

The President urged all states to embrace the wage increase, noting that the National Executive Council would also endorse it.

During the Niger state Executive Council meeting held in Minna on Wednesday, Governor Bago confirmed the approval of the ₦20,000 wage increase, assuring workers that the payment would commence promptly.

Furthermore, Governor Bago announced plans for Ramadan feeding programs and the distribution of 120 trucks of grains as part of the state government’s efforts to alleviate the people’s plight.
