Delta Community Devastated Following Brutal Killing of Soldiers

The once tranquil Okuama community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State has been left in ruins after a tragic incident claimed the lives of sixteen soldiers.

Speculation suggests that enraged soldiers may have retaliated following the loss of their comrades.

Efforts to apprehend the perpetrators are underway, with soldiers under the command of Major General Jamal Abdussalam actively pursuing leads and making arrests.

Fearing reprisals, residents have fled to neighboring Ughelli, seeking refuge from potential military backlash.

In a harrowing discovery, soldiers recovered the lifeless bodies of fourteen fallen comrades, some mutilated, from the blood-soaked grounds of Okuama community.

The desolation extends to the NDDC jetty, where the bodies of high-ranking officers were found, a grim testament to the brutality of the attack.

The Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa, has initiated an inquiry into the incident, which claimed the lives of four senior officers and twelve soldiers.

The tragedy unfolded as military personnel responded to a distress call amid a communal crisis between Okuama and Okoloba communities in Delta State.

According to Acting Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, the troops were ambushed by community youths during a peacekeeping mission.

Arrests have been made, and efforts to uncover the motives behind the attack are underway, reaffirming the military’s commitment to restoring peace and security in the region.
