Panic among FCT civil servants as Wike orders immediate reshuffling of directors

Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) civil servants find themselves in a state of apprehension as reports emerge of an imminent reshuffling of directors across Secretariats, Departments, and Agencies (SDAs). The decision, set to take immediate effect following the inauguration of the pioneer Head of Service, Permanent Secretaries of the FCTA, Chairman, and FCT Civil Service Commission members, aims to enhance operational efficiency within the organization.

During the swearing-in ceremony, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike disclosed the impending reshuffle, urging directors to embrace their new assignments positively. He emphasized that the reshuffle would span all sectors of the FCTA. “Immediately after now, the Head of Service will send out the postings of Directors. I have said that there will be total reshuffling in all areas, and I’m going to implement it this afternoon,” remarked the Minister.

In addition to the reshuffle, Minister Wike issued a stern warning to the newly appointed permanent secretaries, stressing the imperative of performance. He cautioned against complacency, emphasizing that the administration would not tolerate inefficiency. “If you perform below expectations, there’s nothing like query; we have no time for that. We will just send you packing as permanent secretary,” he asserted.

Furthermore, Minister Wike cautioned the permanent secretaries against bureaucratic delays, emphasizing the importance of expeditious decision-making. “So I don’t want to hear any complaints now that you will be handling secretariats; you have your secretaries as your political heads. I don’t want to hear that files are unduly delayed,” he emphasized.

The impending reshuffling, coupled with the Minister’s strong stance on performance, underscores the government’s commitment to driving effective governance and service delivery within the FCTA.
