Nigerian Youths Showcased as Talented, Competent, Tinubu to Meta Delegation

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu expressed to delegates from Meta Platforms Incorporated that Nigerian youths are exceptionally gifted and resourceful.

In a statement by Ajuri Ngelale, a presidential spokesperson, Tinubu emphasized this during a meeting on Thursday with the delegation, led by Sir Nick Clegg, former UK Deputy Prime Minister and Meta’s President of Global Affairs, at the state house.

Tinubu underscored his administration’s commitment to leveraging technology to drive growth across micro-businesses, fostering widespread prosperity in Nigeria.

He reiterated Nigeria’s eagerness for business collaborations with Meta, stating, “We have a vibrant, gifted, and resourceful youth population in Nigeria. Understanding that the future is likely to be AI-enabled, we must equip our youth to compete and engage in the global economy. I can assure you that Nigeria is open for business.”

Sir Clegg, on his part, announced Meta’s plan to introduce a feature on its Instagram app in June 2024, allowing Nigerian creators to monetize their content and earn a livelihood through the platform.

“We have significant opportunities ahead to deepen partnerships with Nigeria,” he added.
