Controversial TikToker, Murja Kunya, was granted bail of ₦500,000 by Justice Nasiru Saminu at a Kano State High Court. The bail conditions include two sureties, one a relative and the other a Kano municipal landowner.
This decision came after a directive from the Kano Shari’ah Court for a psychiatric evaluation. Stressing Murja’s long custody since February 20, Justice Saminu deemed her release necessary during the Easter break.
The court also mandated verification of the sureties’ property and prohibited Murja from using social media until the case concludes. Failure to comply will result in arrest by the Kano Commissioner of Police.
Additionally, the judge ordered the presence of the defendants’ counsel, the Attorney General, Hisbah Board representatives, and the Commissioner of Police for amendments to the Kano State Hisbah Board Amended Law. The case is adjourned until May 16, 2024.
This development stems from concerns raised by the Hisbah Board regarding Murja’s behavior and Twitter postings, citing immorality.
