In a recent meeting between the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), NDIC Managing Director Bello Hassan urged the EFCC to return funds it had recovered on behalf of NDIC.
The meeting, attended by EFCC Executive Chairman Ola Olukoyede, focused on enhancing collaboration in recovering depositors’ funds lost due to bank failures, with Hassan emphasizing the importance of timely reimbursements.
Hassan commended EFCC’s anti-corruption efforts and highlighted their partnership, including the establishment of an NDIC Help Desk at EFCC. Both parties reiterated their commitment to combating financial crimes and ensuring the stability of the Nigerian banking sector.
Additionally, NDIC recently announced the reimbursement of depositors from 179 microfinance and four mortgage banks nationwide.
