BREAKING: Fed Govt Announces Friday and Monday Public Holiday

The Federal Government has declared Friday, March 29, and Monday, April 1, 2024, as public holidays to observe Good Friday and Easter Monday respectively.

The declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, representing the Federal Government, through a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Aishetu Ndayako, on Wednesday.

Tunji-Ojo encouraged all Nigerians, particularly Christians, to reflect on the spirit of sacrifice and love demonstrated by Jesus Christ during this period.

Highlighting the broader significance of Easter, the statement emphasized its role in promoting values such as love, forgiveness, and compassion, which are vital for fostering social cohesion and harmony.

The Minister urged Christians to embody these virtues, recognizing their potential to positively impact Nigeria’s socio-economic development by fostering unity and cooperation while reducing conflicts.

Furthermore, Nigerians were called upon to demonstrate acts of charity and generosity, particularly towards the less privileged, aligning with the principles of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

As the country prepares to celebrate Easter, the Minister extended warm wishes to Christians both at home and abroad, inviting all Nigerians to collaborate with the Tinubu-led Administration in its efforts to achieve sustainable development and prosperity for all.
