The police have transferred a wanted traditional ruler, Clement Ikolo Ogenerukeywe, the king of Ewu Kingdom, Delta State, to the military authorities.
Confirming the handover, Delta Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, stated the development.
Ogenerukeywe voluntarily presented himself shortly after the Defence Headquarters declared him and seven others wanted on Thursday, as disclosed by Police Commissioner Abaniwonda Olufemi.
The monarch arrived at the Police Command headquarters at precisely 6:41 pm.
In an interview on TVC before surrendering to the police, the monarch denied involvement in the killing of 17 soldiers in the Okuama Community. He emphasized his innocence and called for a thorough investigation to identify the perpetrators and ensure justice.
Others wanted by the Defence Headquarters for their alleged roles in the recent killing of 17 military personnel on a peacekeeping mission in Delta State are: Prof. Ekpekpo Arthur, Andaowei Dennis Bakriri, Akevwru Daniel Omotegbo (Aka Amagben), Akata Malawa David, Sinclear Oliki, Reuben Baru, and Igoli Ebi.
