Brigadier-General Y.D Ahmed, the Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has cautioned corps members against engaging with the press without proper authorization.
During the swearing-in ceremony of 1,343 “2024 Batch A” Stream 1” corps members deployed to Katsina State, Ahmed also emphasized the importance of avoiding drug abuse, late-night travel, and the dissemination of false information.
He stated, “Speaking to the press without prior permission from NYSC authorities is strictly prohibited. Additionally, misuse of social media and spreading fake news can have severe consequences, undermining national security and unity.”
Ahmed encouraged corps members to leverage the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program to acquire essential entrepreneurial skills for their service year and beyond.
Representing Governor Dikko Umar Radda of Katsina State, Deputy Governor Lawal Jobe assured the corps members of the state government’s unwavering support, particularly in ensuring their welfare and security.
Aisha Muhammad, the Katsina State NYSC Coordinator, urged the corps members to actively participate in all camp activities, emphasizing their role in enhancing physical and mental preparedness for a successful service year.
