Actress Halima Abubakar Fined ₦10m for Defaming Apostle Suleman

Nollywood actress, Halima Abubakar, has been ordered by a Federal Capital Territory High Court to pay N10m in damages to Apostle Johnson Suleman for defamatory comments made on her Instagram page.

The court also issued a restraining order against Abubakar, preventing her from making further defamatory statements about the cleric.

Apostle Suleman accused Abubakar of spreading libellous statements, including allegations of womanising and being diabolical.

Despite being given the opportunity to defend herself, Abubakar failed to do so, leading to a judgment in favour of Apostle Suleman.

In addition to the fine, Abubakar is required to publish a retraction of her statements on her Instagram page and delete all links to the defamatory comments on the internet.
