Federal Govt Implements Apps to Track Ministers’ Performance

Ministers are gearing up to present their performance reports on the delivery of ministries based on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s eight priority areas.

In Abuja yesterday, Ms. Hadiza Bala-Usman, the Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination/Head of Central Coordination Delivery Unit (CDCU), hinted at the upcoming assessments.

President Tinubu has mandated ministers to undergo compulsory quarterly assessments to evaluate their performances in alignment with the identified priority areas.

To facilitate this, Tinubu’s administration has introduced the Citizens’ Delivery Tracker App, enabling Nigerians to provide feedback on government policies, programs, and projects.

Additionally, the implementation of constituency projects allocated to senators and House of Representatives members will also be evaluated.

Ms. Bala-Usman emphasized Tinubu’s commitment to an open and transparent government, highlighting the President’s directive for ministries to engage with citizens quarterly.

Under Tinubu’s new strategy, dubbed “Citizen-centric approach to governance,” ministers will be evaluated on eight key areas, including economic reform, national security, agriculture, energy, infrastructure, education, health, diversification, and governance improvement.

Ms. Bala-Usman outlined the parameters for assessment, including specific deliverables and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) agreed upon by ministries and the President.

The Central Delivery Coordination Unit (CDCU), established to coordinate and monitor presidential priorities, will oversee the assessment process, utilizing a Delivery Reporting Framework and Template.

The Citizens’ Delivery Tracker Application, unveiled by Ms. Bala-Usman, will enable citizens to track government programs and projects, providing real-time feedback.

Furthermore, the government plans to engage citizens through sectorial engagement sessions and collaborations with civil society organizations, emphasizing a citizen-centric approach to governance.

Ms. Bala-Usman clarified that the execution/performance of constituency projects can be tracked through the Ministry of Special Duties.
