In a statement released earlier today, President Joe Biden condemned Iran’s unprecedented air attack against military facilities in Israel. The President expressed his strongest condemnation for the attacks, which were carried out by Iran and its proxies operating out of Yemen, Syria, and Iraq.
Under President Biden’s direction, the U.S. military had moved aircraft and ballistic missile defense destroyers to the region over the past week to support Israel’s defense. These deployments, combined with the extraordinary skill of U.S. servicemembers, helped Israel intercept nearly all of the incoming drones and missiles.
President Biden reaffirmed America’s ironclad commitment to the security of Israel during a conversation with Prime Minister Netanyahu. He praised Israel’s remarkable capacity to defend against and defeat such unprecedented attacks, sending a clear message to its foes that they cannot effectively threaten Israel’s security.
Tomorrow, President Biden will convene with fellow G7 leaders to coordinate a united diplomatic response to Iran’s brazen attack. His administration will also engage with counterparts across the region and maintain close communication with Israel’s leaders.
While no attacks on U.S. forces or facilities were reported today, President Biden emphasized remaining vigilant against all threats and promised to take all necessary action to protect the American people.
