FCE Zaria Takes Action Against Cult Suspects, Forms Investigative C’ttee

In response to the apprehension of 12 students suspected of involvement in cult activities, the Federal College of Education (FCE) Zaria has initiated an inquiry by establishing a committee to delve into the matter further.

During the matriculation ceremony for NCE (Part-Time) of the 2023/2024 academic session, Dr. Suleiman Balarabe, the Provost of the College, disclosed this development to journalists.

The committee, comprising seasoned administrators, lecturers, security agencies, religious, and traditional leaders, aims to address the menace that poses a threat to both the college and its environs.

Dr. Balarabe stated that the college’s security division received a report from a student alleging attempts at initiation into a cult, prompting immediate investigation. Subsequently, 12 students were identified as being involved.

Following initial inquiries within the college, the suspected individuals were handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department of the Kaduna police command for further investigation.

The Provost emphasized the college’s commitment to fostering a conducive academic environment, free from negative influences such as examination malpractice, inappropriate attire, unlawful associations like cultism, and substance abuse.

He urged the matriculating students to uphold integrity both on and off-campus, highlighting the institution’s dedication to nurturing competent educators who will contribute positively to society.
