No Lagos Worker Is Paid Less than ₦70,000 Salary Since January – Sanwo-Olu

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has announced that workers have been benefiting from an additional ₦35,000 wage allowance since January.

Sanwo-Olu disclosed plans for a new minimum wage scheme, emphasizing that those earning at least ₦35,000 now receive a salary of ₦70,000 or more since the start of the year.

“The civil servants and public officers in Lagos are aware that since January, we’ve been consistently paying a minimum wage allowance of ₦35,000 on top of their previous earnings.

“This means individuals earning ₦35,000 or more before are now receiving over ₦70,000. They’ve been enjoying this since January,” Sanwo-Olu stated at a state function on Thursday.

Providing an update on economic relief efforts, the governor announced plans to distribute food items to 500,000 households in the state through unions and local governments.

Regarding the ‘Ounje Eko’ initiative, which offers discounted food items, Sanwo-Olu mentioned, “We’ve established 59 makeshift markets across our 57 local government and local council development areas, operating Sunday-Sunday markets.”
