EFCC Chairman Appoints Chief of Staff, 14 Zonal Directors

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, has named Michael Nzekwe as his Chief of Staff, alongside appointing Zonal Directors for the commission’s 14 Zonal Commands.

Described as a “topnotch investigator,” Nzekwe, a lawyer and former Commander of the Ilorin Zonal Command, brings a wealth of experience to the role, according to a statement released by the Commission’s Head of Publicity, Dele Oyewale.

Having served across various departments within the Commission, including Legal and Prosecution, Operations (now Investigations), Internal Affairs (now Ethics and Integrity), Servicom, and Asset Forfeiture, Nzekwe is well-prepared for his new responsibilities.

The statement further announced the restructuring and upgrading of all zonal commands to departmental status, each led by a Director. Additionally, the Security Unit has been elevated to a Department, with a seasoned officer appointed as Director, Security and Chief Security Officer.

A new department within the Executive Chairman’s office, led by the former Makurdi Zonal Commander, Friday Ebelo, has been established, focusing on Special Duties.

Furthermore, minor reshuffling has been carried out in some departments at the headquarters as part of the ongoing restructuring aimed at enhancing the EFCC’s effectiveness in fulfilling its mandate.
