Tinubu appoints new heads for NESREA, NDRBDA

President Bola Tinubu has announced key appointments, signaling a strategic move towards bolstering environmental governance and development initiatives. Dr. Innocent Barikor has been appointed as the Director-General of the National Environmental Standards and Regulation Enforcement Agency (NESREA), with the approval coming directly from President Tinubu.

Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, officially conveyed the appointments in a statement released on Friday in Abuja. Alongside Dr. Barikor’s appointment, President Tinubu has also greenlit the designation of Prince Ebitimi Amgbare as the Managing Director/CEO of the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority (NDRBDA).

Dr. Barikor brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having served as an academic, politician, and member of the Rivers State House of Assembly from 2011 to 2015. On the other hand, Prince Amgbare, a retired naval officer and former commissioner in Bayelsa, is poised to leverage his diverse background in steering the NDRBDA towards impactful development outcomes in the Niger Delta region.

These appointments underscore President Tinubu’s commitment to harnessing capable leadership and expertise to drive sustainable environmental management and regional development, positioning Nigeria for enhanced socio-economic prosperity.
