BREAKING: New Minimum Wage Set to Take Effect from May 1, 2024 – FG

The federal government has assured workers that despite ongoing discussions by the Tripartite Committee on National Minimum Wage, there will be no loss for them, as the new minimum wage is slated to be implemented from May 1, 2024.

Speaking at the May Day celebration at the Eagle Square in Abuja, Minister of State for Labour, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, made this announcement on Wednesday.

She mentioned that while the specifics of the new national minimum wage weren’t available before May 1, extensive consultations are underway to expedite the release of the document.

According to The Nation, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) chairman, Joe Ajaero, proposed a living wage of N615,000 for workers.
