Workers’ Day: Ebonyi Gov Announces ₦10,000 Salary Increase for Employees

Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has declared a ₦10,000 raise for state civil servants amid ongoing negotiations between labor and the federal government regarding the new minimum wage.

Nwifuru unveiled the increment during the Workers’ Day celebration at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium in Abakaliki on Wednesday, reaffirming the commitment to regular promotions and prompt payment of salaries, pensions, and gratuities.

He expressed confidence that Ebonyi would not lag behind in implementing the new wage structure, highlighting his directive to clear all promotion arrears without delay.

Addressing the workers, he stated, “I am pleased by your dedication, which is a testament to your integral role in our state. In recognition of your efforts, I’m pleased to announce an additional ₦10,000, making it a total of ₦20,000.”

He commended the workers for their resilience, productivity, and patriotism, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to their welfare as outlined in the People’s Charter of Needs.
