Senate President Godswill Akpabio has assured Nigerian workers that the National Assembly and the executive arm of government will work together to provide a living wage and improved working conditions.
In a statement released on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, Akpabio declared, “No Nigerian worker will be allowed to work under inhuman conditions again. We will do everything possible to give you the best because you deserve it.”
Akpabio praised the qualities of Nigerian workers, saying, “Nigerian workers are known for their patriotism, hard work, resilience, and dedication to duty. I have had the pleasure of working with Nigerian workers for over 25 years, and I can attest to the fact that the Nigerian worker’s spirit is renowned globally.”
Regarding this year’s Workers’ Day theme, “Ensuring safety and health at work in a changing climate,” Akpabio promised that the National Assembly under his leadership is committed to ensuring the best working conditions for Nigerian workers. He noted that the theme is apt and aligns with international best practices, and assured that Nigeria will not be left behind.
