₦2.187 Trillion Scandal: Full List of 58 Ex-Govs Accused of Embezzlement

The EFCC has alleged that 58 former governors were involved in misappropriating approximately N2.187 trillion over 25 years, excluding seized properties worldwide and ongoing investigations totaling billions of Naira.

This amount is comparable to the combined 2024 budgets of Lagos State and the South-East states, which total N2.25 trillion and N2.29 trillion, respectively, exceeding the budgets of the North-Central and North-East states for 2024 by several billion.

The EFCC is currently investigating, probing, and prosecuting these ex-governors from various regions of Nigeria, out of at least 170 governors since May 29, 1999.

In January, the commission announced plans to review N772 billion fraud cases against 13 former governors. Some acquitted ex-governors maintain their innocence, accusing the EFCC of political motives, while the EFCC vows to pursue justice.
