Senator Urges Tinubu to Drop Cabinet Members Accused of Corruption

The Senator representing Ondo South and a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Jimoh Ibrahim, has proposed the removal of certain ministers facing corruption allegations from the cabinet.

During a Channels TV programme, Politics Today, on Wednesday night, Ibrahim urged President Bola Tinubu to dissolve the cabinet and dismiss specific ministers, stating, “You have to dissolve the cabinet. You have to come up with knowledgeable people. The cabinet is too cold.”

Expressing disappointment with the current ministers’ performance, Ibrahim emphasized the need for individuals who meet the country’s top standards to address the nation’s economic challenges.

He recommended dropping ministers accused of corruption, cautioning that failure to do so would burden the President and the country.

Ibrahim highlighted the President’s “fantastic strategy” but criticized the faulty structure, stating that it hinders its implementation.

Regarding Nigeria’s socio-economic challenges, Ibrahim questioned whether the current system could effectively support the President’s strategy.

Tinubu had previously warned ministers to perform or face dismissal at a ministerial retreat in November 2023, emphasizing periodic evaluations.

Meanwhile, Tinubu was expected to receive a report on the performance status of the Federal Government’s ministries, departments, and agencies for the first quarter of 2024 on Monday.
