BREAKING: Bandits Kidnapped University Students in Kogi

Bandits raided Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara, Okene in Kogi State on Thursday night, abducting several students as they prepared for upcoming exams.

According to an eyewitness, the bandits stormed the university around 9 pm, entering three lecture halls and firing shots to intimidate students.

Security personnel intervened, limiting the attackers to the first three halls, but some students were still taken captive.

The students, gearing up for their first-semester exams starting on Monday, May 13, were thrown into panic, with some seeking refuge in the nearby bush.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abdulraman Asipita, confirmed the incident but declined to disclose the number of abducted students, assuring that the situation is under control.

Efforts to contact the Commissioner of Police in Kogi, Mr. Bethrand Onuoha, and the State Security Adviser, Retired Cdre Jerry Omodara, were unsuccessful.

This incident reflects the growing trend of abduction for ransom in various parts of the country, highlighting the need for heightened security measures.
