Fed Govt Empowers 372 Poultry Farmers With Chicks, Feeds

The Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (FMAFS), has trained and empowered 372 poultry farmers in Ondo State with day-old chicks and feeds.

The Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Temitope Fasedemi, represented by the ministry’s Coordinator in the state, Akeem Ogundeko, stated that this initiative is part of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewal Hope Agenda to bolster food security in the country.

Fasedemi mentioned that the beneficiaries, selected from four local government areas—Ondo West, Ondo East, Idanre, and Ile-Oluji—received emergency supplies of day-old chicks, poultry feeds, and zymes.

“327 poultry farmers were carefully selected, trained, and empowered with 25 day-old chicks, three 25kg bags of poultry feeds, and one pack of zymes each,” he said. “Previously, we have trained and empowered poultry farmers in Ondo North and Ondo South with poultry feeds, day-old chicks, agro chemicals/knapsack sprayers, and power tillers.”

Fasedemi assured the government’s ongoing support for farmers and urged them to utilize the training and resources effectively.

The state Commissioner for Agriculture, Olayato Aribo, thanked the federal government, noting that the initiative would significantly aid poultry farmers and boost production in the state. He encouraged beneficiaries to apply their training in managing their poultry and to share the knowledge with other farmers.

Beneficiaries Atinuke Darapale and Akinmade Oladipupo expressed their gratitude for the training and resources, promising to make good use of them.
