Tinubu’s First Year in Review: Analysts Rate Top 10 Performing Ministers

President Bola Tinubu marked his one-year anniversary in office on Wednesday, May 29, 2024. The celebration featured various activities, including the commissioning of significant projects and a change in the national anthem.

In conjunction with these events, analysts also assessed the performance of Tinubu’s ministers. During an episode of Channels TV’s “Politics to Nigeria,” data and governance analyst Johnson Kolawole, Executive Director of the Africa Polling Institute Bell Ihua, and political analyst Jide Ojo provided their ratings of the ministers. They highlighted the top performers in Tinubu’s cabinet over the past year.

Top Ten Performing Ministers:

1. Nyesom Wike, Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT)

– Performance Highlights: Nyesom Wike, the former governor of Rivers State, emerged as the top-performing minister. He has successfully completed several previously abandoned projects in the Nigerian capital, which President Tinubu commissioned during the anniversary celebrations.

2. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of Internal Affairs

– Performance Highlights: The Ondo-born politician ranked second for his efforts in addressing the backlog of over 200,000 passports in the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

3. Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Economy

– Performance Highlights: The Senior Advocate of Nigeria, who previously served as the Minister of State for Labour and was a spokesperson for Tinubu’s 2023 campaign, has been instrumental in advancing the aviation and aerospace sectors.

4. Dave Umahi, Minister of Works

– Performance Highlights: The former governor of Ebonyi State has focused on constructing concrete roads nationwide and has been actively inspecting various road projects. He gained attention recently when the federal government awarded the Lagos to Calabar coastal highway project.

5. Doris Uzoka, Minister of Trade and Investment

– Performance Highlights: A medical doctor and financial expert, Doris Uzoka has implemented several grant schemes to boost trade and investment since her appointment.
