The National Association of Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) has officially instructed its members to participate in the ongoing nationwide strike initiated by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC).
The strike, which began on Monday, June 3, is a collective call by the NLC and TUC for a new minimum wage for Nigerian workers, reflecting the growing demands for improved compensation and working conditions across various sectors.
Salisu Abubakar, the Public Relations Officer for NANNM at the Federal Medical Centre in Gusau, Zamfara State, confirmed that the union’s national leadership has issued a directive for all members to join the strike. Abubakar emphasized that this move is in strict compliance with the national order, underscoring the solidarity among the healthcare professionals in support of the broader labor movement.
