Court Orders Substituted Service on Ganduje, Others in Alleged Bribery Case

A Kano State High Court has granted an order for substituted service on Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, and others charged with alleged bribery and misappropriation of public funds. The state government had filed an eight-count charge against Ganduje, his wife, son, and several companies, alleging misappropriation and diversion of public funds totaling billions of naira.

The presiding judge, Justice Amina Aliyu, granted the order following an application by the state government’s counsel, Zahradeen Kofar-Mata. The defense counsel, Nureini Jimoh, had challenged the appearance of the prosecution counsel, Ya’u Adamu, and objected to the motion for substituted service.

The court ordered all parties to present their fiat to the court and adjourned the matter until July 11, 2024, for a hearing. The substituted service will be effected by publishing the court documents in two national daily newspapers.
