Zamfara: Woman Arrested with 2,000 Ammunition Allegedly Supplied to Bandits

A young woman has been arrested in Zamfara State with over 2,000 rounds of ammunition intended for supply to bandits. This incident coincides with the surrender of four Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters to Nigerian troops in Borno State.

The four terrorists, identified as Baana Duguri, Momodu Fantami, Abubakar Isani, and Zainami Dauda, surrendered to troops of Sector 2, Operation Hadin Kai, and local hunters on the outskirts of Mainok in the Kaga Local Government Area. The surrender took place between June 3 and 5, 2024, according to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert in the Lake Chad region.

The surrendered fighters handed over two AK-47 rifles, 99 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, seven AK-47 magazines, two hand grenades, four Baofeng radios, two bandoliers, one bag, a pair of ISWAP uniforms, and two motorcycles. They cited severe hunger and hardship in their camp as reasons for their decision to surrender and expressed an unwillingness to continue with terrorist activities. The group reportedly originated from the Damboa general area.

Meanwhile, details remain sketchy regarding the young woman apprehended in Zamfara State, who was reportedly planning to supply the ammunition to bandits.
