Maryam Shetty Gets Married, 10 Months After Losing Ministerial Bid

Maryam Shettima, popularly known as Maryam Shetty, a former ministerial nominee from Kano State, tied the knot with her heartthrob on Saturday in a private ceremony that had little prior publicity.

Maryam Shetty’s political journey took a dramatic turn less than a year ago when she was nominated by President Bola Tinubu as a ministerial candidate in August 2023. However, her nomination was abruptly withdrawn due to internal political maneuverings. On the very day she was scheduled for a screening by lawmakers, President Tinubu replaced her with Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, a classmate of Shetty, via a communication delivered to the Senate by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila. Dr. Mariya Mahmoud was subsequently appointed as the Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The unexpected turn of events left Maryam Shetty visibly shocked at the National Assembly, and since then, her public profile had significantly diminished. This changed with the recent joyous occasion of her wedding, marking a new chapter in her life.

Despite the setback in her political career, Maryam Shetty’s wedding highlights a personal milestone, offering a fresh start and renewed public interest in her story.
