APC Not the Ideal Party for Nigeria, Says Sule Lamido

Sule Lamido, the former Governor of Jigawa State, has openly criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC), asserting that it is not the right party for Nigeria. Speaking on Channelstv’s Politics Today program on Monday, June 10, 2024, Lamido accused the APC of being primarily focused on seizing power, a motive he believes has led to the country’s current challenges.

“From the very beginning, APC is not the right party for Nigeria. In 2014, they were just trying to grab power and appropriate it, and now we are nursing the consequences,” Lamido stated.

He argued that the APC’s governance, particularly under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, has had a detrimental impact on Nigerians across various sectors. Lamido emphasized that the party’s failure has created widespread discontent among the populace.

In his interview, Lamido expressed his support for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), highlighting the anticipation among Nigerians for its return to power. He mentioned that the PDP is fully constituted and that he remains in close contact with party members, suggesting a strong and organized opposition.

Moreover, Lamido cast doubt on the development of Lagos State during Tinubu’s tenure as governor, implying that the progress was not solely due to Tinubu’s efforts. He suggested that the development was achieved using Nigerian resources, insinuating that Tinubu had personal interests in mind.

Lamido’s remarks reflect a broader sentiment of dissatisfaction with the current administration, signaling a potential shift in Nigeria’s political landscape as the country looks toward future elections.
