Eid-el-Kabir: Gov Sule Orders Immediate Payment of June Salaries

The Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule, has directed the government to pay June salaries ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir festival, scheduled for Sunday, June 16.

Governor Sule announced this directive during an empowerment program organized by the Commissioner for Special Duties, Humanitarian Affairs, and NGOs, Hon. Margaret Elayo, on Tuesday.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Sule also instructed the chairmen of the 13 local government areas in the state to use their savings to ensure workers receive their salaries before the Sallah celebration.

“The coming Sallah provides the opportunity to test the veracity of the fact that local governments in Nasarawa State have savings in the bank,” Sule stated. “Now that I am seeing a lot of local government chairmen, you won’t say it’s the ALGON chairman that is forcing you. I am happy that I am seeing all of you here. As you all know, Sunday is going to be Sallah day. You have enough savings in accounts that, whether money has come from Abuja or not, you can pay salaries.”

Sule emphasized the importance of local governments acting independently of federal allocations in this instance.

“I want you to pay salaries to local government workers from your own savings in the bank. All the times we have been saying it, you have savings. This is the time to test that statement, whether you have savings,” he asserted. “Let us not wait for money to come from Abuja. The state will pay its own. We don’t have a problem with the state,” he said.
